Fatal Shooting In Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus Police Department was called to a deadly shooting that took place on 15th Avenue South on Monday night.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant confirmed to WCBI that one person is dead after reports of shots fired.

The police department has not yet released the victim’s name.

Neighbors tell WCBI the victim was well-liked and well-known in Columbus.

Officers are still investigating the shooting, which took place near the intersection of 15th Avenue and 6th Street.
