Fatal Lee County fire victim identified

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI0 – The man killed in a Lee County fire has been identified.

Coroner Carolyn Green said Walter Eugene George, 63, died at the scene of Highway 178 fire.

The blaze started early Tuesday morning in the Skyline Community.

The State Fire Marshal’s office said the fire started after a space heater was placed too close to combustibles.

There were no smoke alarms in the apartment.

An investigation into the fire is continuing.
