Fatal Accident At GoBox

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County authorities continue to investigate a deadly accident.

Coroner Greg Merchant tells WCBI it happened around 4:00pm yesterday afternoon at 100 Rosecrest Drive, where the company GoBox is located.

Merchant says 57-year-old Phillip Harris, a long-time employee of GoBox, went into a clogged wood chipper to try to fix it when a large roller came down on him, killing him.

OSHA has been contacted, and GoBox says they are cooperating with local law enforcement agencies looking into the matter.

Merchant says it appears to be an accident, but it remains under investigation.
