VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) — What initially started out as an argument between two brothers, suddenly took a turn for the worse.

The argument then led into fist fight between two brothers.

And shortly after, 20 year old Christoropher Heard picked up a nine millimeter gun and shot and killed his older brother, 22 year old Bryson Heard.

This tragic incident now causes a family to lose both of their sons.

However, according to the brothers parents, Christopher has a mental issue, and that led to him committing the crime.

“Well I’m sad right now because I lost two sons with one stone,” father of the two brothers, Arthur Morgan said.

The Verona Police Department said 20 year old Christopher Heard shot and killed his older Bryson, but the parents think differently.

“It wasn’t a case of just lowdown murder, its was a case of a person with a mental issues not getting the help from the state they need,” Morgan said.

Heard’s parents said the 20 year old Christopher is schizophrenic and has a bipolar disorder, and think the charges should be dropped.

“Nobody with mental issues should be charged with a one million dollar bond saying murder because they not in they right mind, they don’t know what they doing,” Morgan said.

Both parents said they took their son to get help at local clinics but they didn’t receive much help.

“Nothing was ever done for him, even when I take him to an appointment, they know he’s reclusive and cant sit still long, and then they take 45 minutes to get to him so he’s still not getting the help he needs,”  mother of the two brothers, Shelia Heard said.

But even in this tough time, both parents say they try to think of the good times they shared with both of their sons.

“Yea the little family times we had together when all of us would be together, them being with their sisters and everybody acting silly,” Heard said.

“They smiled all the time both of them,” Morgan said.

Thursday’s shooting now makes the second homicide in Verona this week alone.

On Monday, twenty seven year old Xzavious Johnson of Okolona shot and killed  22 year old Travonte Young of Tupelo.

After these recent shootings, the Verona Police Department is now enforcing stricter rules to clean up the area and cut down on the crime.

“As far as cleaning up the area, we’re trying to develop curfew hours here in Verona, more kids walking late at night, we want to  make sure they’re in by a certain hour that’s what’s in effect here in Verona,” Verona Police Officer Jermandy Jackson said.
