Fall Begins Friday, but Summer is Holding Strong
TONIGHT: Clouds will begin to clear and any rain will dissipate. Temperatures will drop into the upper 60s and low 70s. It will remain warm and humid. There is the chance for some early morning fog.
WEDNESDAY: A slight chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms but most stay dry. Temperatures will once again be near 90 degrees with the humidity remaining in place.
THURSDAY & FRIDAY: The daily afternoon rain chances remain. Highs in the upper 80s in the afternoon, with heat index values in the low 90s. Daily rain chances around 30%. Once again not looking too bad for high school football. While Friday may be the beginning of fall, it most definitely won’t feel like it.
WEEKEND: The warm and humid weather continues. Highs will be in the upper 80s. Saturday has a slightly higher chance for showers or storms, but both days should stay mostly dry. Make sure to pack the sunscreen if you’re spending time outdoors.
NEXT WEEK: The humidity will decrease which will also limit the chances for afternoon showers and storms. Once again temperatures will remain in the upper 80s.
HURRICANE MARIA: Maria is still a Category 5 hurricane today, having made landfall last night on the island of Dominica. Maria will continue to move towards the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Significant and potentially catastrophic impacts are likely there. Beyond that, Maria is likely to continue northwest into the Caribbean. It’s still a bit too early to say whether or not Maria will have any direct impact on the continental US, but right now the model guidance is showing a fairly strong signal that Maria will swing away from the east coast.
