Video: Eupora Sign Ordinance

EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI) – Businesses wanting to advertise on Eupora streets have some new rules.

Town leaders recently approved a sign ordinance.

Mayor Dan Burchfield says the company placing signs in the Webster County town is doing a great job and producing a quality product.

The town board just happened to realize there was no ordinance on the books.

Eupora used Mississippi Department of Transportation information and a similar ordinance in Starkville to develop its own guidelines.

“The purpose of this ordinance is not to penalize anyone. It just, you know, if you have competing companies…let’s say you have five companies in a little town like Eupora and they are all buying for the major intersection where the most traffic flow is,” said Eupora Mayor Dan Burchfield.

Signs must be 2,640 feet apart.
