Employment rate in Alabama at record high

LAMAR and PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. (WCBI) – The number of people employed in Alabama is at a record high.

According to the State Department of Labor, more people are working now than ever before.

The statewide unemployment rate in March was 3.7%, unchanged from February, and well below what it was around this time last year.

In the WCBI viewing area, the unemployment rate for Pickens County is 4.3%. A decrease from the jobless rate in February.

Lamar County’s unemployment rate also dropped slightly to 3.8%.

The industries making the most gains are construction, aerospace, production and manufacturing.
