TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Elvis Presley fans took to the streets of Tupelo Saturday for Elvis Appreciation Day.
Tupelo, the birthplace of Elvis Presley, hosted the event which included music, tourists attractions, and storytellers. The event is tied to Elvis week in Memphis Tennessee which commemorates the death of Elvis in August of 1977. Fans of the rock and roll icon came from all over the country to get to know him a little better.
“I dress up to show my pride in him and to show people what kind of human being he was, I mean he was flashy but he was a normal person,” said Arkansas fan David Msock.
All the festivities took place on the birthplace ground site and will wrap up this evening.
