Elevator catches fire in downtown Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – An elevator fire caused a scare in downtown Columbus Wednesday morning.

Smoke was seen at 509 Main Street.

The building has a business and apartments.

Columbus Fire and Rescue said the elevator motor caught fire but was quickly brought under control.

There were no injuries or serious damage.
