Video: Elderly Couple Dies In House Fire

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – An elderly couple dies in a house fire in West Point.

The blaze broke out at a home on Lone Oak Circle around 10:30 Monday morning.

Clay County coroner Alvin Carter tells WCBI Jack Golson, 84, and his wife, Sarah, 80 died of smoke inhalation.

No one else was in the house.

“The house was about half involved upon arrival. All of the entry doors were fully involved. We made entry through the bedroom window, we recovered the two victims, there were transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.”

The West Police fire department and the State Fire Marshall’s are still investigating the cause of fire.
