Egg Bowl Returns To Thanksgiving Night

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) – The annual football rivalry game between Mississippi and Mississippi State has been moved to Thanksgiving night for the first time since 2003.

The 110th Egg Bowl will be played at 6:30 p.m. CT on Nov. 28 at Davis Wade Stadium and televised on ESPN. The game has been played on Thanksgiving 20 times in the rivalry’s history, including from 1998 to 2003.

Mississippi State athletic director Scott Stricklin said in a statement Wednesday that the new game time is a “tremendous opportunity for our state’s largest football game to be played on the largest stage of a crowded football weekend.”

Ole Miss won the Egg Bowl 41-24 last season in Oxford, Miss., breaking Mississippi State’s three-game winning streak in the series.
