Early morning house fire in Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Investigators are trying to find out what sparked a house fire Friday morning in Tupelo.

Firefighters were called to a house in the 300 block of South Highland Street around 4 a.m.

The house was vacant, but Tupelo Fire Chief Thomas Walker said there was extensive damage inside the structure.

It took firefighters less than 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported and investigators are now searching through the debris to find a cause for the fire.
