Donations being accepted for relief flight to the Bahamas
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Northeast Mississippi residents who want to help those in the Bahamas hit hard by Hurricane Dorian have a chance to donate supplies that will be flown to the area next week.
Aviation workers at the Tupelo Regional Airport are collecting clothing, water, hygiene items and other nonperishable supplies for people impacted by the Hurricane that devastated the Bahamas.
The drive is called “Tupelo Taking Care of the Bahamas,” or TCB.
A local aircraft owner will allow his plane to be filled with items, that will be flown early next week to the affected areas.
“People of Mississippi are some of the most generous in the country, and we always step up when something is needed, you can ask and this is better than the government because this is what we’re here for, people are here to help other people,” said volunteer Leslie Pearman.
Donations can be taken to 120 Lemons Drive, the hangar next to Universal Asset Management.
Children are encouraged to write notes and cards to encourage hurricane victims. Deadline is tentatively set for next Monday. For more information call 662-844-9112 or 662-315 1709.
