Video: Doctors Want Discussions About Possible Lease Or Sale Of OCH Regional Halted
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A number of Starkville physicians want the Oktibbeha County board of supervisors to abandon the idea of selling or leasing OCH Regional Medical Center.
38 doctors signed a petition asking county leaders to stop their efforts to find a new arrangement for the hospital.
The list of signees includes OCH doctor leadership.
Chief of Staff Dr. Harry Holliday says recruiting physicians is being hampered by the discussions.
State law requires the board of supervisors to complete an assessment before a sale or lease could occur.
“A lot of the doctors are here because of the administration and the community hospital and the support of the community, and we just strongly want to let everybody know the vast majority of the doctors fell like the hospital should stay a public entity like it is now,” said Holliday.
The consulting firm the county hired will meet with supervisors and OCH on Monday.
