Disney On Ice Gives Back
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Winter is upon us, and many people who need a new coat will have many to choose from, thanks to generous Northeast Mississippians.
Feld Entertainment, which produces “Disney on Ice” helped organize a coat drive this morning outside the Bancorpsouth Arena in Tupelo.
Disney on Ice presents “Frozen” begins a four day run tonight, but the skaters were up early, collecting coats for the United Way.
The first one hundred people to donate coats got a ticket to the show, but even after the ticket vouchers were gone, donations kept coming in.
“We have had an outrageous turnout we are so lucky and it’s so great for the community as well, it’s awesome to be here and to see everyone how homey it is and it’s just lovely,” said Emma Astrup, a skater with Disney on Ice presents “Frozen.”
Those coats will be given to the Tupelo Salvation Army. Disney on Ice starts Thursday evening. On Friday morning, WCBI will be live from the area during “Sunrise” with skaters, a production number and other surprises from “Frozen.”
