DEVELOPING: Manhunt Spans Three North Mississippi Counties
NORTH MISSISSIPPI, Miss. – (WCBI) A manhunt now spans three counties, and involves five law enforcement agencies.
It began at 12:30 a.m Wednesday morning during a routine traffic stop in the center of Mathiston. According to the Webster County Sheriff”s Department, a Mathiston officer pulled over a vehicle driven by Khristopher Box.
Deputies say Box drove away, beginning a chase. The roadway pursuit ended after Box crashed, but he then fled on foot. When law enforcement searched the wrecked car, they say they found a working meth lab.
Box was reportedly spotted in Calhoun City later Wednesday.
Calhoun County Sheriff Greg Pollan says Vardaman police attempted to capture Box about 3:30 PM, near Highway 8 and County Road 433, just outside Vardaman.
“He eluded Vardaman PD and immediately several law enforcement officers were able to get on the scene and get this area surrounded. And we believe we have him cornered in an area, approximately one square mile,” explained Pollan.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is also involved in the search for Box. Chickasaw County deputies are also assisting in the manhunt.
If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact Webster County, Calhoun County, or Chickasaw County Sheriff Departments.
