LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an escapee at the adult detention center.
Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said the jail was on lockdown.
Detention officers are doing a headcount of the inmates at this time.
Hawkins said Terry Leshawn Brooks escaped sometime before 8:30 p.m.
Hawkins was not releasing the name of the second inmate who was captured in the perimeter of the jail fences.
Deputies searched around the jail.
