Deputies Investigating Attempted Armed Robbery

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies are looking for the man they say tried to rob a local convenience store.

It happened at the Sprint Mart on Airbase Hill around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies told WCBI a man wearing a skull mask walked into the store, demanding the clerk to open the cash register.

He refused. Then investigators say the suspect swung a knife at the clerk while trying to open the drawer.

The suspect eventually fled on foot, and didn’t get away with anything.

The clerk suffered minor injuries.
