Death Row Inmate’s Appeal Denied
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – The state Supreme Court turns back the latest appeal from a death row inmate.

HOWELL
36-year-old Marlon Howell asked for a hearing to seek a new trial
based on what he calls new evidence.
Howell was convicted and sentenced to death back in 2001 for the robbery and murder of a Daily Journal newspaper carrier in New Albany.
Howell claimed he had a statement from a woman who claimed she was with him that night and had carried him to Blue Mountain at the time the murder took place.
The justices ruled the claim comes too late, and that since Howell knew the woman providing the new alibi back in 2001, his counsel could have presented that alibi during the trial.
