Death Of Lee County Inmate Being Investigated

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – An autopsy was being conducted Tuesday on a man who died at the Lee County jail.

Coroner Carolyn Green says Robert Williams, 42, of Shannon died Monday morning.

Preliminary indications are that Williams died of natural causes. He did have some health issues.

However, an autopsy will determine an exact cause.

State law requires an autopsy for anyone that dies in police custody.
