Deadly Columbus Fire Ruled Accidental

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The State Fire Marshal rules a deadly east Columbus house fire as accidental.

A Columbus Fire Department spokesman confirmed the findings on Monday afternoon.

Rechelle Heard, 47, died in the early Friday morning fire.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says Heard’s autopsy will be done Tuesday in Jackson.

CFD says other family members in the Cannon Trace home were rescued.
