OKTIBBEHA CO., Miss. – (WCBI) Mississippi is known as an agricultural state. In the fast paced world, fast food has replaced home cook meals.
One group of ladies is determined to change the way we look at food, using techniques from our forefathers. They are using today’s technology to improve ways to live off the land.
They are integrating the best of the past and present. These ladies are active mentors in the newly formed Mississippi Modern Homestead Association. Lindsey Wilson and Marion Sansing believe in homegrown staples and the many benefits you can gain when you take food from the farm to table.
Lindsey and Marion are sharing their wealth of knowledge with the community in the form of a feast. I stopped by the kitchen to see what was cooking. From cheese making to bee keeping, the ladies are using the practices of yesterday and adding a modern flare to improve their health and quality of life, making this just one more day in the life.
