Day in the Life, End Zone Preview
COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI)The roar of the crowd. Whistles are blowing, and the cameras are rolling. Friday night lights will soon be glaring over high school football fields across North Mississippi and West Alabama, and the WCBI Sports crew is ready.
“Our game of the week will be Noxubee County and Starkville. It is going to be a huge match up. These two teams don’t like each other. They are starting to become good rivals. Noxubee had a four game winning streak going into Starkville last year. Week one games are going to be rematches of games last year. So, you will see a lot of revenge factors coming into play in the first week,” says Sports Director Robby Donoho.
From setting up for preview shows, to the high school football tour, Robby says preparing for high school football games started months ago.
“Preparation for Friday nights start on the Sunday after Friday. I’ve been prepared for Friday night since three or four weeks ago. It is sort of like what the coaches go through. They start preparation for their next opponent on the Saturday and Sunday after the Friday game. We do the same thing. After Friday, I am going to start preparing for week two on Saturday and Sunday. We don’t take any off days on the Endzone. It is highschool football, 24/7,” says Donoho.
There are a few interesting twists this football season, including the blue turf addition in Tupelo.
Ready or not The End Zone is back, For the football players, cheerleaders, band members, parents, fans and the WCBI Sports Crew.. This is just one more day in the life.
