STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) A picture says a thousand words, but when that picture is drawn with a free hand, it speaks one: talent.

Meekayll Boyd finds inspiration in the ordinary.

Boyd knew from the age of six that he had a knack for drawing. It was when he moved to Starkville and met a special educator, that his artistic journey really began.

Now, Boyd is further honing his skills. The 22-year old specializes in portraits, using shading and precision to create realistic images.

With pencils and brushes in hand, I got a lesson in charcoal art.

There’s a good chance my work won’t be in a showcase any time soon.

For Mekayll Boyd, drawing his way into a lifetime of creative success is just one more day in the life.
