WEST POINT, Miss. – (WCBI) Dove season has already kicked off, and that means deer season is not too far in the future. Before you head to the tree stand, make sure you gun is ready to fire.
Ed Sanders has been a gunsmith since 1954.
“There aren’t many gunsmiths anymore. It takes just as long to become a gunsmith as it does a doctor, except you make a lot less money, ” says Sanders.
As your friendly firearm doctor, Ed can rebuild, recraft, and retool your gun for optimal performance.
He also is a certified dealer and constructs hand made knives. All of these skills combined have kept his business Ed Sanders Gunsmith open since 1976.
Restoring historic guns is just the tip of the barrel.
After touring his Daracott Rd. store and checking out some of his latest projects, we started working on repairs with his grandson/apprentice Brooks White.
A 12 gauge shotgun would not eject the shells once the gun fired. The parts needed cleaning, and I was prepared to take on the task.
For the final part of this “Day in the Life,” you’ll have to wait. Until then, this is just one more day in the life.
