Video: Damage Reported Across Region
UNDATED (WCBI) – Damage is being reported in several North Missisisppi counties following the first wave of severe weather to cross the region. The hardest hit area right now appears to be Winston County where four structures on Ebernezer Road are destroyed along with two more on County Line road. Monroe County is reporting damage to cars as they were blown over when storms came through. Discount Grocery in Itawamba County lost a roof and heavy damage is reported at the Marina with residents there evacuated.
Power lines and trees are down across much of North and Central Mississippi along with power outages. Below is the latest information from MEMA
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has received damage reports from early evening severe weather in Mississippi. Several counties have damage to homes and power outages. No injuries are being reported.
Residents need to remain alert as a second round of severe storms are forecast to move through the state later tonight with a strong.
Counties reporting damage:
- Calhoun: Widespread power outages.
- Grenada: Homes damaged.
- Scott: Homes damaged.
- Winston: Six homes damaged.
Damage assessments continue by county emergency managers.
The State Emergency Operations Center is staffed and monitoring conditions and requests for resources from counties.
