Crews begin work at intersection of 5th Street North, 2nd Avenue North

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Work began at a busy Columbus intersection.

The area around the intersection of Fifth Street North and Second Avenue North is closed through Thursday, October 26.

Columbus Light and Water be repairing the underground wiring that controls the pedestrian signals at the intersection to improve safety in that area.

This is the intersection at the western corner of the courthouse and Zachary’s.

Crews started digging up the street to make those repairs on Monday, October 23.

There are also plans to re-stripe the pedestrian crossing when those repairs are done.
