Crawford Social Club Gives Back
CRAWDORD, Miss. (WCBI) – A small social club in Crawford is doing big things to help the elderly in their community.
Two senior faces lit up, as they received much needed household supplies. A newly formed group, the 1st Klass Deevus and Gents, is determined to improve lives.
“Were helping the elderly in our community and put everybody’s name over into a drawing like all the elderly people into a drawing and his name was one of the chosen ones and we buy supplies and donate them as part of our community service,” said Tineka Malone, President.
40 names were put into a drawing and two lucky locals were picked out. One older man who lives with his disabled wife surprised and delighted to win.
“It just makes me, I don’t know, I can hardly explain because it’s a surprise but what makes me go good about it is it’s something I can use,” said winner Frazer White.
“It warms my heart to feel that we are helping people in the community so it’s a good feeling,” said Vice President Teresa Muse.
The gift basket included paper towels, tissues, dish cleaner, and other everyday household needs. Their second stop was just as exciting as they proudly gave away another basket of goodies.
“I’m so happy, I was scared when I seen all these cars but now I’m happy. Thank God for these young people that did something like that, I really appreciate it,” said winner Parine Koger.
It’s a cause that warms the hearts of the 1st Klass Deevus and Gents as they went house to house to give supplies to those in need.
“It’s a blessing from God to be able to give back to some of the people who paved the way for us as you know kids growing up, so we feel like we can give them a blessing also,” said Zargent at arms, Kimberly Rogers.
The 1st Klass Deevus and Gents say this was the first month of giving back, but that they look forward to giving away supplies every month to two elderly people in the community.
The social club says their looking to put together a Christmas drive for the holidays.
