Columbus City Council To Discuss CPD Officer Involved Traffic Stop
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus city council meets with questions swirling around the traffic stop of a Columbus police officer in Starkville.
Sgt. Louis Alexander was stopped by a Starkville officer on March 8. SPD did not release why Alexander was stopped, but did say he was not arrested and there are no pending charges.
A Columbus city spokesman confirmed the traffic stop is under investigation.
WCBI asked if a city employee sent to get Alexander in a city vehicle while on the clock.
The city says that information is a personnel matter, at the moment.
WCBI has submitted a Freedom of Information request to view the Starkville officer’s body camera footage.
We will continue to follow this story as more information becomes available.
