Cowbell Yell at Dudy Noble Set for February 12th
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI/MSU Athletics) – In anticipation of Opening Day February 14, the preseason No. 2 Mississippi State University baseball team has partnered with the MSU Student Association to host the first-ever “Cowbell Yell at Dudy Noble Field” Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
Cowbell Yell at Dudy Noble will serve as the annual meeting for “The Dudes,” MSU baseball’s student fan group. While the event is aimed to increase student involvement within the program, all fans are invited to the ballpark to help signal in the 2014 campaign. Students can join the 2014 Dudes program by scanning their student ID’s at the entrance and can acquire this year’s Dudes shirt at the event.
Upon gates opening at 5 p.m., 2014 posters and schedule cards will be available and fans can get their picture taken with the 2013 national finalist trophy in the concourse area. Fans are asked to sit in the grandstands for the event. At 5:55 p.m., the Student Association will announce its headliner for Super Bulldog Weekend “Old Main” concert.
Starting at 6 p.m., fans will get their first look at the 2014 intro video, see highlights of last season’s run to MSU’s ninth College World Series and see special video messages from current Bulldogs in Major League Baseball.
In addition, fans will hear from head coach John Cohen on the upcoming season and the purpose and importance of the Dudes, listen to comments from captains Wes Rea and Ben Bracewell and hear a special message from Bench Mobb leaders Ross Mitchell and Jacob Lindgren.
The festivities will conclude with fans, crossing home plate, a meet-and-greet with Cohen and a photo opportunity with the MSU skipper or their favorite players. Following the photo ops, fans will be invited next door to the Humphrey Coliseum for men’s basketball 8 p.m. tipoff against Georgia.
