Counselors Conference
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Counselors from Mississippi are learning how to better serve their clients, during their statewide conference in Tupelo.
The “Mississippi Counselors Association” annual meeting is drawing more than 700 counselors to the Bancorpsouth Arena and Conference Center.
It’s an opportunity for counselors from schools, private practice and other areas, to network, attend a variety of workshops and learn about new ways to help clients.
Dealing with mental health cases is a growing topic.
“There are so many mental health issues that are coming to light, our families are struggling, parents are struggling, our children are struggling, and so we need to educate the public about what the warning signs are for different mental health issues and that’s part of the role of counselors, we educate people, and try to prevent issues before they even begin and then we intervene once those issues magnify,” said Kimberly Hall, president of MCA.
The theme for this year’s MCA conference is “United To Serve All.” The conference wraps up Friday.
