Councilwoman pleads guilty to obstructing governmental operations
PICKENSVILLE, Ala. (WCBI) – A Pickensville, Alabama town councilwoman pleads guilty to a misdemeanor.
Helen Sherrod pled down to an obstructing governmental operations charge.
She was originally indicted for perjury in September 2016.
In the plea, Sherrod was given a 30 day suspended sentence and 12 months probation.
Because the plea was a misdemeanor and not a felony, Sherrod can keep her seat on the town council.
