Cooper Tire Makes New Statement On Wednesday Night Shooting

FINDLAY, Ohio, Oct. 20, 2016 – Cooper Tire takes the safety and well-being of employees and all of those working in our facilities very seriously. An official investigation is underway by local law enforcement, but we can confirm that two employees of an on-site contractor firm working at our plant were involved in a shooting incident last evening.  The victim is hospitalized and it has been reported that his condition is stable.  The suspect is in police custody. Our thoughts are with the victim at this time and we will continue to aid law enforcement in the investigation into this incident. The plant remains in operation.

Proper steps were taken immediately at the plant to secure the safety of those working in the facility at the time, and our security and plant personnel followed the guidance of law enforcement as the situation was unfolding. Leaders at the plant are reaching out to employees to assure them that their safety and security is our top priority.
