Columbus Salvation Army distributes angel tree toys to community

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s a mission the Salvation Army has been working on tirelessly and today those Christmas tree angels were able to get their wishes granted.
The Salvation Army in Columbus distributed the toys and items collected through their angel tree program.
As cars lined up, volunteers passed out gifts to each of those families in need.
Captain Thomas Johnson says this wouldn’t be possible without the support from community members, businesses, and local organizations that donated their time and effort to give back.
Most of the families that have applied to be on this angel tree program, look forward to this. We do not want our families to have to worry about these things during this time of year, so we want to help them and we want to take that money that they couldn’t put on toys and put it on rent or bills and we know how the struggle is during this time of year, so them not having to worry about Christmas, makes a big difference,” Johnson said.
