Columbus Neighborhood Watch Program Partners With CPD

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –
Columbus held their bi-annual neighborhood watch meeting this evening and discussed various topics regarding improving communication between not only each other but with the Police Department as well.
The Columbus Police Department were also present and officer Rhonda Sanders spoke to the group saying that citizens of Columbus should not hesitate to reach out. She also stressed the importance of reporting any suspicious activity.
Cindy Rood who headed the event says that that was their main goal for the meeting, to join forces.
“We hope to keep our people close to the police department and knowing them by face, by their name and able to feel comfortable with calling and saying ‘Ineed help, this is going on.'” said Rood.
Officer Sanders also says that they plan on holding training in the near future where the CPD will be showing citizens how to properly identify suspicious activity and how to report it.
