Columbus Man’s Murder Conviction Appeal a No-Go
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus man serving life in prison for a 2010 murder won’t be getting out any time soon.
Ranzino Harris was tried and convicted in 2013 for the shooting death of Justin Murray.
Murray and another man, Michael Brewer intervened as Harris was assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Lee. After the fight, Harris left the house.
He came back later with a gun, shooting and killing Murray.
At trial Ranzino Harris tried to claim self-defense. The jury found him guilty of murder.
He was sentenced to life in prison.
Harris was appealing that conviction based on insufficient evidence and errors in the trial judge’s rulings on testimony.
The Court of Appeals found no errors, and affirmed the Circuit Court’s decision and sentence.
