Columbus man jumps counter, follows employees in to back area
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Possibly high on drugs, a Columbus man jumped the counter and went straight for the Taco Bell cash register.
That’s how Columbus police described the scene Sunday afternoon.
Brian Key Gartman was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Methamphetamine.
Witnesses and employees told police after Gartman got behind the counter he followed some of the workers into a back office area.
That’s when a customer went to get a weapon out of his vehicle to help the employees. The customer also spoke with Gartman inside the restaurant.
CPD said that’s when the Gartman went outside and was confronted by officers.
Gartman was also accused of trying to kick out the back window of a patrol car.
He remains in jail.
