Columbus-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce hosts Legislative Luncheon

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus business leaders heared from lawmakers about a variety of topics Wednesday.

The Columbus Lowndes Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Legislative Luncheon.

Chamber members submitted a variety of questions ranging from Medicaid to infrastructure to education.

Several questions were also asked about the 2% restaurant tax.

Lawmakers believe a special session will be called, eventually, to address roads and bridges in the state and a lottery could be included in that call.

However, this luncheon was all about hearing from state leaders.

“They are here to ask any questions that pertains to their business, specific legislation to help them make better business decisions moving forward this years, and also the legislators get to hear from the business community,” CLCC President Lisa James added. “What is important to our chamber members, what things they can do as legislators to make this a more business friendly climate in Columbus and Lowndes County.”

This is the second year the chamber has hosted the luncheon.
