Columbus High Names Eric Rice Head Football Coach
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Columbus School Board confirms that Starkville-native and former Ole Miss Rebel Eric Tucker Rice has been named head football coach.
The hiring took place in the board meeting, Thursday night.
Rice played tight end for the Rebels from 2000 to 2004, and has been coaching high school football for the past decade.
Rice spent the past six seasons as head coach of Benton County High School, and then Hickory Flat after consolidation. Rice led Benton County to the postseason four years after the school became eligible.
Rice also spent 2008-2012 as fullbacks and tight ends coach for South Panola. The Tigers won three state championships in the time period.
