Columbus Brick Sold to General Shale

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A family owned brick business in Columbus, is bought out by a leading manufacturing company.

General Shale, headquartered in Johnson City, Tennessee, now owns Columbus Brick.

Columbus Brick, is a fourth generation, family-owned business, that manufactures face bricks for residential and commercial construction jobs.

Going forward, Columbus Brick will keep’s its name as a subsidiary of General Shale, and fall under the leadership of Charles Smith. Al Puckett, Columbus Brick’s former CEO, will serve the company as an adviser. General Manager, Ed Thebaud, will continue to oversee day-to-day operations.

Columbus Brick first opened in 1890. It’s the only U.S. brick manufacturer, to offer genuine paper cut brick, and employs 75 people.

General Shale is one of the largest brick, stone, and concrete block manufacturers, in the US.
