Columban man sentenced for 2017 robbery, shooting into vehicle

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus man will spend 12 years in prison for two crimes.

Vershawn Williams pleaded guilty to Robbery and Shooting into a Vehicle.

Court documents allege Williams stole a cell phone from someone in May 2017. He was originally charged with Armed Robbery.

Williams shot into a vehicle in September 2017. The charge of Aggravated Assault was dropped in the plea deal.

Williams is the young man wearing a blue shirt and carrying a rifle.

Prosecutors say Williams used a rifle to rob a woman of her cell phone and home security footage captured the incident.
