Colder mid-week, storm potential increases Saturday

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – Temperatures take a dip through Thursday morning, then a warming trend brings another storm potential to the region Saturday.

WEDNESDAY: Despite plenty of sun,  highs will likely hold in the lower 50s for most spots today – cooler than previous days!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: With a clear sky and calm winds, low temperatures should bottom out in the upper 20s area-wide.

THURSDAY: Another really nice day! Plenty of sun will help temperatures climb to near 60 degrees by afternoon.

FRIDAY: Clouds will steadily build through the day, and a few showers could show up by the afternoon or evening hours. We could even see a few non-severe storms move in after midnight as well.

WEEKEND: Increasingly warm and unstable air will be flowing northward into Mississippi during the day in advance of a strong Pacific front. We expect widespread showers and storms with this front, with potential severe weather increasing by afternoon & evening as higher shear overlaps the instability. It’s still too early to define specific threats or a specific time window, but overall signs still point to the threat of severe weather Saturday PM. While a few showers are possible Sunday morning, the rest of the day looks much drier and cooler behind the frontal passage.
