Coffeeville Shooting

COFFEVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation along with the Coffeville Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting over the weekend.

Coffeville Police officer Kurt Savage responded to a domestic violence call at 210 Rayburn Street around 9:00pm Sunday. David Long who lives at the residence and is wheelchair bound was escorted out of the home after an hour of negotiations with Savage. Once outside, Long  pulled out a handgun and opened fire on Savage. Savage returned fire, shooting and killing Long.  Savage was hit four times and airlifted to a Memphis hospital for treatment.

MBI is investigating the shooting.
