COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- The director of the Columbus High School Gospel choir is facing charges for allegedly sending sexually explicit text messages to a minor.
Michael Jackson, 30, was arrested Sunday night and charged with enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes.
Columbus police chief Selvain McQueen says a report was filed late Friday afternoon alleging Jackson sent the text messages to a minor for the purpose of engaging in sex.
McQueen would not confirm whether the victim is a student in the Columbus School District. Interim Superintendent Edna McGill declined to comment, saying it is a personnel matter.
In addition to teaching music, Jackson also serves at Special Assistant for Public Relations and parent Involvement for the district.
