Video: Clay County Makes $300,000 Drug Bust

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) — An April 13, 2016 a traffic stop on Hwy. 45 Alt North in Clay County resulted in the seizure of 16 pounds of methamphetamine and the arrest of two suspects.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that drug agents from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Mississippi Attorney General’s Office and the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) arrested Tenorio Lucas, age 30 and Ricardo Estrada, age 25.
Scott stated the arrests stemmed from a long term investigation and this amount of drugs is the largest seizure of Crystal Methamphetamine in this county with an estimated street value
of $300,000.00.
Scott stated both suspects were arraigned in Clay County Justice Court on Friday, April 15th and charged with Aggravated Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.
Bond was set on both suspects at $500,000.00 each. On Monday, April 18th the charges and case were transferred to the DEA where the assistant attorney general’s office will pursue the charges in federal court.
Both suspects are to be arraigned in federal court on Tuesday, April 19th.
Sheriff Scott said this is an example of the continued cooperation of the local, state and federal authorities of removing drug traffickers from our community.
This traffic stop and arrests prevented an enormous amount of dangerous narcotics being distributed in our community.
