LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — 3 counts of aggravated assault on a police officer have been filed against a Lowndes County man in connection with a Tuesday shooting which left two deputies in the hospital. 30 year old Kenneth Coscia is accused of being the gunman who opened fire on the deputies at his 487 Drake Circle Home. Deputies Clint Simms and Larry Swearingen were both struck by bullets from a high powered rifle. Both are still hospitalized following surgery. The third aggravated assault charge comes because another shot passed through the pants leg of a third deputy but did not wound him. Coscia is set to be arraigned on the charges this afternoon.
