Casino Revenue Shows Rebound
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi casinos won a little more money from gamblers in October, a total of about $165.5 million.
Winnings in September were about $164.3 million.
Mississippi Department of Revenue figures show statewide casino revenue in October of 2012 was about $167.4 million.
The 12 coastal casinos won $83.2 million from gamblers in October. The 18 river casinos from Tunica to Natchez won $82.2 million.
The numbers exclude Choctaw Indian casinos, which aren’t required to report winnings to the state.
Overall for the 2013 calendar year, casinos have won $1.8 billion through October.
Mississippi tax collections for the fiscal year that began July 1, 2013, total $85 million.
