Carver Named MACJC Softball Player of the Week
FULTON, Miss. (WCBI/LetsGoICC.com) – Sophomore second baseman Catherine Carver has been selected as the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Player of the Week.
The Hernando, MS native went 5-for-8 with 2 walks, 3 runs, a RBI, a steal and a sac fly to help the No. 11 Lady Indians (37-11) advance to tournament play of the MACJC Softball Tournament by winning their best-of-three play-in series against East Central Community College (33-16).
“We are extremely proud for Cat,” said Coach Andy Kirk. “She had a really tough week dealing with the loss of a close friend and missed the final game of the regular season, but came back in a big way for us against East Central.”
Carver is the third Lady Indian to earn Player of the Week honors and will be eligible for National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Player of the Week honors set to be announced Wednesday afternoon.
ICC will host the MACJC Softball Tournament, May 2-4, at the ICC Softball Complex on the Fulton Campus and will be taking donations for tornado victims in Tupelo and other North Mississippi areas throughout the tournament.
