Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department Works To Put Clown Fears To Rest
CALHOUN CO., Miss. (WCBI) – Clown scare is rampant in parts of north Mississippi, and local law enforcement agencies are trying to keep the public calm.
Recently, the scare has made its way to Calhoun County, Mississippi, which prompted the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department to post this statement on its Facebook page (bolding for emphasis ours):
“The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is well aware of the recent news stories about clowns trying to lure children into the woods and/or chasing people with knives.
“CALHOUN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI has had no reports of any such activity here. There have been NO reports of any sightings of clowns in our county contrary to what is being posted on social media.
“There was an incident in Calhoun County, ALABAMA that people have shared on social media thinking it was here, but that is not the case.
“We are also aware of some other posts on Facebook listing some towns in our county. We are working to identify these individuals but so far these accounts have been removed from Facebook or are now inactive.
“If this situation changes be assured that we will notify the public immediately. THANK YOU.”
