Calhoun County Man Enters Plea

(OXFORD, Ms) WCBI – The trial of Wayne “Honky ” Harris is over before it gets started.

Jury selection was just beginning in the depraved heart murder trial of the Calhoun County man when he opted for a guilty plea to a manslaughter charge.

Harris admitted he shot 51 year old Chris McGonagill to death after the pair argued during a cookout at McGonagill’s carpentry shop back in January. Following the plea, Judge Breland Hilburn sentenced Harris to a 20 year prison term with 15 years suspended with five to serve.
